The Arizona Time Anomaly
Why No DST?
Arizona opted out of the Uniform Time Act of 1966. Due to its hot climate, adding another hour of sunlight to the end of a scorching summer day was considered impractical. The exception is the Navajo Nation, which does observe DST to keep time consistent across its territory that spans three states.
Summer vs. Winter Shift
In the summer, when other Mountain Time states "spring forward," Arizona (MST) aligns with Pacific Daylight Time (PDT). In the winter, it aligns back with Mountain Standard Time (MST). This tool handles that shift automatically.
Fun Facts About Arizona
While you're checking the time, learn a little more about the Grand Canyon State!

- Cactus Power: The Saguaro cactus, a symbol of the American West, can live for over 150 years and is native to the Sonoran Desert.
