Before time zones, every city had its own local time based on the sun. As a major railroad hub, Cleveland was pivotal in the adoption of standardized time. On **November 18, 1883**, known as "The Day of Two Noons," clocks in Cleveland were officially synchronized to the 90th meridian, establishing Central Standard Time for the city.
